Bag End - The Shire

I have always wanted to do Bag End! I have seen so many renditions of Bilbo's house, and though very cool, they all seem to be missing something or other. I wanted to do a model as complete as possible. It was only limited to the base I started with. And, instead of just concentrating on the outside, I built the entire interior before working on the exterior. I hope you like it.

This is the map I used to plot and carve out the interior

Once I carved the base and ceiling out, I set the map in the floor for reference

Fitting the ceiling

I removed the map for painting and started on the front

Setting the front pieces bit by bit

Adding walls with doorways and some floors in the Entrance Hall, Parlour, Kitchen, and Dining rooms

Note one of the little embedded magnets and pegs that will help align and secure the top

More walls going in and the floors for the Master and Study

the fllors are in for the Pantry and Storage areas

Another alignment peg and magnet. The Spare room floor and fireplace is in, as well as the fireplace and shelves in the Master

Placing furniture in all of the rooms

There is more to do on the inside I break here to start on the top

Building up the hill top a bit

Ok, that is the basic shape

More furniture and details installed

Testing the lights and the top is plastered

The tree is made from a couple of live black locust branch twigs tied together.
Some of the edge flocking is starting

The tree gets flocked

The path get a fence

Looking good

More detail is being added here, chimneys, park bench under the tree, entry gate, etc.

The sign is on the gate

The path to the top

It's a chilly evening and Bilbo is in his study with a nice fire going. He is hears guests coming up the walk to his front door. He hurries into the kitchen to start the fires, and then to light the Parlour fireplace, before greeting his guests.
The three chimneys have smoke plumes. The Master and Smoking rooms notably do not.

If the base that I started with had been bigger the upper path would have swung around and met up with the path to the base of the tree.

The top of the hill removed

Dr. Octopus

I just finished this Marvel Dr. Octopus nook for one of our nephews. I made his brother a Sauron nook last year. I ordered the articulating ...
