1/24/26 The Paths of the Dead

I have been wanting to do this one for a long time so I ordered the figures of the wraith king and his two lieutenants from Games Workshop. Then I went searching for a decent 3D file for Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli that would fit the scenario in the caverns of the dead. I found suitable files, with some modification. With these crucial elements taken care of, I started working on The Paths of the Dead.

The reference

Foam core and XPS foam strips

1/4" foam core sheets with chips of packing foam glued down, covered with vinyl spackle, then slathered with ModPodge/black paint/water mix

Stuffing all of the little skulls into the nooks and crannies, and littering the floor with bones and skulls

The wraith King and his lieutenants

The three companions

The front is carved from XPS foam

The wholes for the facing skulls

In the lower left hole you can make out the pushbutton light switch

Pressing on the lower left skull operates the switch

In the scene, Aragorn has dropped his torch and drawn his sword in response to the wraith King's challenge. Legolas draws his bow and Gimli gets ready to fight
