11/10/25 The Ravenclaw Common Room

Welcome to the Ravenclaw common room. This one is going to the youngest daughter for her birthday in the spring.

Unlike Gryffindor and Slytherin, there are few references to the other house common rooms, not in the books, not in the movies, and not in art. The video games are about it. There is a short description of Ravenclaw in the books however:

"Our emblem is the eagle, which soars where others cannot climb; our house colours are blue and bronze, and our common room is found at the top of Ravenclaw Tower, behind a door with an enchanted knocker. The arched windows set into the walls of our circular common room look down at the school grounds: the lake, the Forbidden Forest, the Quidditch pitch and the Herbology gardens. no other house has such stunning views."

Further descriptions gleaned from the books:

The Ravenclaw common room was one of the airiest rooms at Hogwarts. It was a wide circular room with arched windows hung with blue and bronze silks and a midnight blue carpet covered in stars, which was reflected onto the domed ceiling. The room was furnished with tables, chairs, and bookcases; and by the door leading up to the dormitories stood a tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw made of white marble.

I'm using an oatmeal box for my circular room with individual foam bricks lining it.

Sorry, I whipped through this part and neglected to take any pics of the process

These are the entrance walls

Fireplace is on the right, dormitories entrance with stairs is on the left

It looks much better with all of the furniture, bottles, bookshelves, tables, lamps, etc.

I used old egg carton to make these brick patterns

The nook slides out of the box for easy access

With the other two house common rooms. Just Hufflepuff left to do, but I can find no good description of it.

I went with the Eagle instead of the Raven in the movies, because of the book descriptions. But my daughter tells me most folks accept the raven as the mascot symbol
